European Society of Sonochemistry

The European Society of Sonochemistry [ESS] is a society of chemists in Europe with interest in sonochemistry. Sonochemistry is concerned with understanding the effect of ultrasound in forming acoustic cavitation in liquids, leading to the initiation or enhancement of the chemical activity in the solution. The European Society of Sonochemistry promotes science and research work within the field of sonochemistry. The legal status and therefore the formal recognition of the ESS by French Authorities was given at the second ESS meeting conducted at Gargnano, Italy in September 1991 ESS 2, Gargnano, Italy. The ESS is promoting international and interdisciplinary research; is exchanging skilled, industrial and economic data, technical; promoting coaching programmes, summer colleges, and workshops; is organizing international conferences on sonochemistry; is maintaining close contacts and cooperation with connected firms, together with national and international bodies. European Society of Sonochemistry believes that scientific and technological progress currently happens at the interface between 2 or more scientific disciplines whereas chemistry is tangled with the majority scientific domains. Complementary and synergistic effects are found within the overlay between sonochemistry and other facultative technologies like mechanochemistry, microwave chemistry and flow-chemistry. Nowadays more than ever, sonochemistry and cavitational chemistry are very alive in most scientific domains and specifically in method intensification. A difficult future for all sonochemists: chemists, physics, engineers, biologists which will design chemical processes in a very smarter means. Sonochemistry is the core of greener integrated technologies based protocols that aim for higher potency and sustainability. European Society of Sonochemistry organizes meeting every 2 years with the target to gather scientists, engineers and specialists from educational, industrial and environmental professionals to present their findings and to exchange fertilizing concepts so as to form future trends and directions regarding fundamentals of sonochemistry and ultrasonic applications in process, synthesis and environmental remedy.
