Dr. Dan Leksell in 1989 founded the Leksell Gamma Knife Society in Stockholm, Sweden to provide a forum for Gamma Knife clinicians, physicists and researchers a platform to exchange information, data and clinical techniques with the purpose to better patient outcome. The Society is a multinational and multidisciplinary organization, established to drive education and cooperated action and act as a hub for resources. The Society plays an important role in increasing the noticeability and get recognition for Gamma Knife surgery in the worldwide medical community, among healthcare providers and patients. The publicly sharing of results and work experiences allows all Gamma Knife team members worldwide to maintain leadership in the field of intracranial radiosurgery, according to the most recent clinical deductions.
