Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons or PAPS is a small group of Pediatric surgeons belonging from the Pacific Rim countries. It was founded in the 18th of January, 1967 with an objective to promote both educational and social ties among its members. Objectives of PAPS: The main objectives of PAPS include: Promoting and encouraging the development and advancement of the field of pediatric surgery; To advance the cause of education and Scientific Research that is related to the field of Pediatric Surgery or any other reasonably related medical or scientific pursuits; Also to promote the foundation of a commonly valuable relationship among its member. Guest Assistance Program (GAP): Guest Assistance Program or the GAP was established by James Warden (MD) as Guest Assistance program (GAP) for the Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons. Dr. Warden realised the importance of the need of young pediatric surgeons from developing nations to be presented to the present science and specialty of pediatric surgery. He proposed the idea that the Pacific Association of the Pediatric Surgeons can sponsor young surgeons to attend the annual meeting. The program was established in the year 1989 assisting surgeons from Pacific Rim countries and continues through the donations from PAPS members and most as of late with help from the Scinto Foundation. The pediatric surgeons from developing countries of the Pacific Rim with constrained money related assets are qualified for this program. This program provides registration, accommodation, dinners and travel costs to a PAPS meeting and externship to local Children’s Hospital. A 5 year PAPS membership and a paediatric surgery textbook are included. Expenses for family members are not included.
