The Clay Minerals Society (CMS)

CMS is an international organization dedicated to the study of clays and clay minerals. CMS inspire exchange of research discoveries through the publication of Clays and Clay Minerals, sponsorship of an annual meeting, online admittance to the archived journals, special publications, the Cause Clays Repository, and other network building events. CMS Societies associates belong to AIPEA (Association Internationale pour l'Etude des Argiles), have contact to our journal through GSW (Geoscience World), an internet research resource, and receive Elements, a magazine designed to integrate different sub-disciplines such as petrology, mineralogy and geochemistry. It contains regular features, news of the societies, awards, statements of publications, book reviews, and a calendar of future assemblies. The Clay Minerals Society initiated as the Clay Minerals Committee of the National Academy of Sciences—National Research Council in 1952, in response to the necessity for a formal way to hold national clay conferences. By 1962, the Clay Minerals Committee had become strong adequate to stand on its own, and The Clay Minerals Society was incorporated. From 1952 to 1964, Proceedings of the annual meetings were printed. The journal Clays and Clay Minerals was first available in 1964.The primary determination of The Clay Minerals Society is to inspire research and to distribute information relating to all aspects of clay science and technology. Through its conferences and publications, the Society proposals individuals a means of following the many-sided growth of the clay sciences and of meeting fellow scientists with extensively different backgrounds and interests.
