Diabetes Association of Malawi

Is the organization, working on the slogan of diabetes is manageable. The foundation started with the team work of 50 volunteers in in Malawi emanated from informal discussions during diabetic clinic sessions at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre around August 2007. The main aim of initiating such association was to eradicate various numbers of challenges with respect to the provision of treatment and with the availability of appropriate drugs that the diabetic patients were experiencing. The International Diabetes Federation is engaged in action to tackle diabetes from the local to the global level - from programmes at community level to worldwide awareness and advocacy initiatives. In the words of present President, Mr. Timothy Sarge Ntambalika The main objective is to educate, conduct public awareness campaigns and sensitize the general public of Malawi (Advocacy) regardless of color, tribe or religious background about dangers of Diabetes and how it affects people, corporate world and economic activities of the country.
