Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences was established in 1347 as a Nursing High School under the name Bakhtaran in place of Kermanshah. Later it was changed to medical college in 1354, into a medical university ten years later i.e., 1364 after the Islamic Revolution. Apart from the teaching and treatment procedures it also promotes and takes part in research, innovations and an attempt to develop paramedical and medical sciences. The university consists of ten hospitals and fourteen health centers guided under the leadership of seven vice-chancellors. The health centers are located in and around Kermanshah, Islam Abad, Paveh, Salas Babajani, Javanroud, Dalahoo, Ravansar, Sarpole Zohab, Sonqor, Sahneh, Qasre-Shirin,Kangavar, Gilan Gharb and Harsin. The university has about 10,000 working staff and 236 faculty members who thrive towards research and innovations to create healthy society.
