The Vancouver Prostate Centre (VPC) is a cancer research center which has a track record of success that has earned it a reputation as one of the world’s most respected cancer facilities. Founded in 1998 by Larry Goldenberg, VPC was first located in the Jack Bell Research Centre adjacent to Vancouver General Hospital. In 2011, it expanded its laboratories to encompass the new Robert H. N. Ho Research Centre. Currently situated in Vancouver, British Columbia, it is hosted by the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute and the University of British Columbia. Their mission is to encourage the standard of team-driven translational health research to discover molecular mechanisms of cancer progression and therapeutic resistance. This information can then be used to create new services and products that reduce suffering, enhance survival for patients with cancer and promote regional development of biotechnology.
