The need for an expeditious evaluation of drug safety has become a paramount topic in drug discovery. The duration and impact of drug discovery revolving around drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion will be evaluated according to their determined metabolic stability. The major organ for drug metabolism is liver that contains major drug metabolizing enzyme called Cytochrome P450 (CYP) system. Drug metabolism refers to the susceptibility of compounds to biotransformation that depends on the presence of groups in the molecule those are open to enzyme catalyzed transformation. Drug metabolism can be divided into two phases, Phase I and phase II. Phase I involves oxidation, reduction and hydrolysis reactions, which are catalyzed by the CYP and flavin containing monooxygenases (FMOs) whereas Phase II involves conjugation reactions catalyzed by metabolic enzymes like UDPglucuronyltransferases (UGTs) and sulfotransferases.
Scientific journal is a periodical publication intended to further progress of science, usually by reporting novel research. There are thousands of scientific journals in publication, and many more have been published at various points in the past. Most journals are highly specialized, although some of the oldest journals publish articles and scientific papers across a wide range of scientific fields. Scientific journals contain articles that are peer reviewed, to ensure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality, and scientific validity. The publication of the results of research is an essential part of the scientific method. If they are describing experiments or calculations, they must supply enough details that an independent researcher could repeat the experiment or calculation to verify the results. Each such journal article becomes part of the permanent scientific record.
