About university Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (hereinafter alluded to as DUFE) was established in October 1952, initially situated in Shenyang and under the name Dongbei Institute of Finance and Economics which was set up by joining Dongbei School of Banking (1946), Dongbei School of Business (1949), Dongbei School of Finance (1950) and Dongbei Institute of Statistics (1951), Dongbei School of Cooperatives (1951). The college was renamed Liaoning Institute of Finance and Economics in the wake of being moved to Dalian and amalgamated with Liaoning Institute of Business in 1959. The Institute was assumed control by the Ministry of Finance in 1979 and the name "Dongbei University of Finance and Economics" (DUFE) was received in 1985.
