The Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Plants (IBMCP) " Eduardo Primo Yúfera " is a mixed center of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and the Superior Council of Scientific Research (CSIC) . Its main activity is scientific research to obtain plants with higher productivity and quality, with properties of high added value for consumers, farmers and the agri-food industry and more respectful with the environment. Other activities are the provision of services to the research community and the training of research personnel. The center is located in the Polytechnic City of Innovation (CPI) , in the Campus of Vera of the UPV, where it occupies an area of ââ¬â¹Ã¢â¬â¹7000 m2 for laboratories and services. Additionally, it has 4150 m2 for greenhouses and cultivation chambers. The center employs 42 staff researchers (CSIC and UPV), 144 fellows and pre and post-doctoral contractors, 29 technicians and 8 administrative staff. Its main activities are: Scientific research on the mechanisms that control the development of plants and their defense against environmental stress and pathogens. Teaching in the Master of Molecular and Cellular Plant Biotechnology and in the Doctorate program in Biotechnology of the UPV. The ultimate goal of the center is the generation of scientific knowledge to obtain plants with higher productivity and better fruit quality, or with properties of interest and high added value.
