Eastern Michigan University, public university initial founded as Michigan state normal university in the province of Ypsilanti, Michigan in the year 1853. It started its first class with 122 students in March 29, 1853. Adonijah Welch served as the first principal. Initially the school was involved in training teachers and later in 1959, the school was turned into university in the year 1959. The university is ranked among the top 200 universities the Mid-west.
