The university was established on Dec 4, 1950 as a Government Region University (UDF). Due to governmental changes, the university has to change names for various times. In 1961, after the Government Region was shifted to Brazil, the university was relabeled Guanabara Condition University (UEG). It was only in 1975 that the school obtained its present name, when the Condition of Guanabara combined with the Old Condition of Rio de Janeiro to type the New Condition of Rio de Janeiro. The universities 1st four educational institutions were in the Rio de Janeiro i.e. Staff of Financial Sciences, the Rio de Janeiro Staff of Law, the Staff of Viewpoint of the La Fayette Institution, and the Staff of Healthcare Sciences. Rio de Janeiro University is one of the biggest colleges in South America. The universities law university is among the best in the nation. Its primary university is situated at Francisco Negrão de Lima in the Maracanã community of Rio de Janeiro town. Other institutes can discovered at: Nova Friburgo (Polytechnic Institute), Duque de Caxias, Ilha Grandes, Resende, Teresópolis, and São Gonçalo.
