The University of Helsinki was established in the year 1640 and it was located in Helsinki, Finland. It is the largest and oldest public university with wide range of disciplines. Currently, it has around 36,500 students and has 11 faculties and 11 research institutes.
The university offers co-education, with teaching provided in both Finnish and Swedish languages. It was a member in various international university networks. The university is a founding member of League of European Research Universities.
