University of Poitiers

The University of Poitiers is one of the universities in Poitiers, France. It is an associate of the Coimbra Group, as one of the hoariest universities of Europe. The University of Poitiers was founded in 1431 by Pope Eugene IV and chartered by King Charles VII; the University of Poitiers was originally poised of five faculties: theology, canon law, civil law, medicine, and arts. After transitory cessation of the university during the French Revolution when regional universities were obliterated, the University of Poitiers was again resurrected in 1796. The reinstated university was amalgamated from several schools and contained new faculties such as the faculty of science and the faculty of letters. The university refuges all major academic fields through its 14 Teaching and Research Departments, Institutes and Schools. Moreover, the University of Poitiers under the department law studies were ranked as the second best in France in 2005.
