National Heart Forum of UK

The UK Health Forum is a charitable organisation in the UK comprising over 60 charities, non-governmental and medical professional organizations in reducing the risks of coronary heart disease (CHD) and such related conditions as stroke, diabetes and cancer. It is established in 1984, with a group of 80 scientists, medical practitioners and lay representatives for the establishment of an authoritative body at the national level to frame policies directed at the prevention of coronary heart disease and to maximise the contributions of not-for-profit sector organisations. The NHF has three primary functions: (1) to facilitate the work of its members by providing a forum for communication and by coordinating their actions; (2) to encourage national and international activities and researches on CHD and related conditions and educating others about them; and (3) to aid policy makers and UKHF members in effective collaboration. This mission is to operate as a centre of expertise, working with and through our members to contribute to the prevention of the avoidable non-communicable diseases - coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, obesity, cancer, respiratory diseases and vascular dementia.
