Birds

As per available reports about 703 journals, 909 Conferences and workshops are presently dedicated exclusively to birds and about 126437 articles are being published on the current trends in birds. In terms of research annually, USA, India, Japan, Brazil and Canada are some of the leading countries where maximum studies related to birds are being carried out. As reported in the above mentioned 126437 articles, birds are winged, two-legged, warm-blooded, winged, feathered and egg laying vertebrates. Birds come under class Aves and extant birds belong to Neornithes subclass.  Modern birds are feathered and a beak with no teeth, laying of hard shelled eggs, a high metabolic rate, a four-chambered heart, and a lightweight but strong skeleton. Extant birds have wings; the most recent species without wings was the moa, which is generally considered to have become extinct in the 16th century. Wings are evolved forelimbs.
