As per available reports about 1107 journals, 70 Conferences, 20 workshops are presently dedicated exclusively to fiber and about 3,120,000 articles are being published on the current trends in fiber. In terms of research annually, US, Europe, India, and China are some of the leading countries where maximum studies related to fiber are being carried out.

Fiber is a sort of string used as a component of composite materials, or matted into sheets to make products such as paper or felt. Fibers are often used in the manufacture of other materials,for example carbon fiber and Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene.
Synthetic fibers are produced very cheaply and in large amounts compared to natural fibers, but for clothing natural fibre are beneficial in terms of,comfort, over their synthetic counterparts.
Natural fibers are produced by plants, animals, and geological processes. They are biodegradable over time.
