As per available reports about 100 journals, 162 Conferences, 30 workshops are presently dedicated exclusively to fluid mechanics and about 366282 articles are being published on the current trends in fluid mechanics. In terms of research annually, USA, India, Japan, Brazil and Canada are some of the leading countries where maximum studies related to fluid mechanics are being carried out. As reported in “Application of Computational Fluid Dynamics to Design High Performance Drip Irrigation Emitters” article, fluid mechanics is the branch of physics that studies fluids (liquids, gases, and plasmas) and the forces on them. Fluid mechanics can be divided into fluid statics, the study of fluids at rest; fluid kinematics, the study of fluids in motion; and fluid dynamics, the study of the effect of forces on fluid motion. The pressurized water in pipes drops into the soil slowly and uniformly through emitter’s labyrinth channels. The fluid inside emitters is expected to be turbulent so that it can weaken the influence on flow rates due to the fluctuation of operating pressure and improve the irrigation uniformity. Because of its small geometry and opaque channel, it is not easy to observe the flow state of the fluid. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) offers the possibility to investigate the fluid inside channels not always accessible using experimental techniques. Irrigation & Drainage Systems Engineering is an academic journal – hosted by OMICS International – a pioneer in open access publishing–and is listed among the top 10 journals in fluid mechanics. Each year research scientists have noticed a rise in the number of congresses being held in this field. Irrigation & Drainage Systems Engineering covers all phases of irrigation, drainage engineering, hydrology and related water management subjects such as watershed management, weather modification, water quality, groundwater and surface water. The journal provides an Open Access platform for new developments and results of research, as well as case studies and practical applications of engineering. Irrigation & Drainage Systems Engineering provides a unique platform to researchers and scientist to explore the advanced and latest research developments in the field of fluid mechanics, thus bridging the gap between researchers and young scientists.
