Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research was established in the year 2011 as an ‘Institution of National Importance’ (interim operations started in June, 2010), the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) has adopted the mandate to create and train some of the best of tomorrow’s Science & Technology leaders through a combination of innovative and novel curricula, pedagogy and evaluation. AcSIR’s focuses on imparting instruction and providing research opportunities in arenas that are not routinely taught in regular academic universities in India.
It has been set up based on a ‘Hub and the Spokes’ model where the hub is responsible for central or main administrative functions and is currently housed at CSIR HQ, Anusandhan Bhawan, 2 Rafi Marg, New Delhi. The spokes are located in the 37 laboratories and 6 units of CSIR, that are spread along the length and breadth of India, which act as actual campuses for different subjects or areas depending on their respective specializations.
At present the Academy has about 2200 full time faculty members from CSIR Laboratories, over 2000 students enrolled in various programmes and 7 non-academic staff members.
