Antwerp Diamond Research

Antwerp Diamond Research centre was established in October 1973 as the Hoge Raad voor Diamant (HRD), or Diamond High Council, by the Belgian government and diamond industry representatives. The main aim of Antwerp Diamond Research was to protect and promote the diamond sector in Belgium. It also had a commercial branch to issue certificates. With more than forty years of experience, HRD Antwerp is the reference for education. Professional diamond graders, sorters and gemmologists from all over the world attend our international course programme. We offer courses in diamond grading, gemmology of coloured stones, sorting of rough and polished diamonds, jewellery design and sales. In addition, we create tailor-made programmes for companies and organisations, run professional workshops worldwide and offer individual coaching. Our equipment department commercialises the sophisticated systems and devices that are conceived, designed and fine-tuned in the laboratories of HRD Antwerp. These instruments are brought to the market for the benefit of the diamond industry and trade, both in Belgium and around the globe. Since its founding, HRD Antwerp strives to keep its alumni close, informed, and involved through its HRD Antwerp Graduates Club. With more than 20,000 graduates worldwide, the graduates club sponsors a wide variety of programs to serve and support students. The graduates club provides networking and professional development through lectures, workshops, social and friendship activities. HRD Antwerp enlarges the geographic scope of its education activities in all over the world, by planning a first Certified Diamond Grader course.
