Asia Centre, established in August 2005 by François Godement and a team of research fellows and experts on contemporary Asia, is an independent research institute which conducts discussions and produces publications on the strategic and economic aspects of international relations as well as current political and social transformations in the Asia-Pacific region. At the crossroads of university research and public and private decision-making, Asia Center researchers identify significant regional issues and analyse them in their local and global dimensions. Asia Center initiates international debates and its recognized expertise gives it access to numerous committees and specialized study groups. Its programs are developed in conjunction with an extensive network of European, American and Asian partners, companies and major centers. Organized along four main lines of work, Asia Centers research covers the key issues of international and strategic relations as well as the political and economic evolutions of Asia: conflict prevention, regional integration, the challenges of globalization And global governance, democratic transitions and societal developments, energy security, proliferation risks, technologies related to sustainable development and environmental protection. These issues are dealt with both through specific projects responding to current events and through permanent monitoring and reflection groups.
