Established in 2008, The Basque Centre for Climate Change is one of the Centres of Excellence under the BERC programme. As the name suggests, it is devoted to studying the causes and consequences of climate change and the best ways of addressing it. The BC3 is one of the few centres in Europe with this specialization, and it has already established a strong reputation in the field. BC3 Basque Centre for Climate Change is led by one of the most recognized scientists in this field, Prof. Anil Markandya- and with a multidisciplinary team of high-profile researchers, aims to contribute to long term excellent research on the causes and consequences of climate change in order to foster the creation of knowledge in this multidisciplinary science. The BC3 Basque Centre for Climate Change Klima Aldaketa Ikergai is a non-profit association with a vision, to be a world-class climate change research center aimed at informing decision-making at the Basque, Spain, and international level by integrating natural and social sciences to address the socio-economic implications of global climate change. This synergy is realized through our research on low carbon transitions, natural environment and ecosystem services, health, economics and policy. The BC3 is a Research Centre aims at contributing to long term research on the causes and consequences of climate change in order to foster the creation of knowledge in this multidisciplinary science. Moreover, it prepares a highly-qualified team of researchers with the main objective of research, training and dissemination. The Basque Centre for Climate Change contributes to make informed decision making processes in Spain and in the international level.
