Beijing Anzhen Hospital was founded in April 1984 with the vision of creating a premier hospital facility in China that could provide a full range of medical services while advancing China’s capabilities and technologies in treating heart and lung diseases. Anzhen Hospital, in combination with the Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung & Blood Vessel Diseases, which was founded in 1981, forms a superior medical entity focused on integrating medical treatment teaching, scientific research, prevention and international exchange in medicine. Anzhen Hospital is under the jurisdiction of Beijing Health Bureau and it is the designated hospital for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Anzhen Hospital places special focus on cardiac surgery, cardiology, pediatric cardiology & cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, respiratory medicine and emergency medicine. The Department of Cardiac Surgery ranks first throughout the country in the number of procedures performed, with 9,042 various types of heart surgeries each year, 3,771 of which are coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The Department of Cardiology performs 18,845 cases of coronary angiogram annually, among which more than 9,270 are angioplasty cases (PCI), also the forefront in the country.
Anzhen Hospital covers a whole spectrum of medical disciplines with distinguished physicians and a broad technological base. Currently, the hospital has approximately 2,713 employees, including more than 300 high-ranking or senior professionals. There are of 43 clinical and technical departments with 1,112 beds in the hospital. The Cardiac Surgery Wing is equipped with world class facilities including 20 operating theaters with advanced Laminar Flow Air System and 55 postoperative ICU beds, providing excellent medical services for patients suffering from heart, lung, and blood vessel diseases. The newly-completed Clinic Wing occupies an area of 58,000 square meters, providing excellent medical services for outpatients.
