Birsa Agricultural University

Birsa Agricultural University is located at Kanke, Ranchi in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is one of the oldest of 65 recognized Agriculture Universities (AU) in India. It was established on 26th June 1981, after its formal inauguration by then the Prime minister of India, Late Smt. Indira Gandhi and strong supporter of Indias "Green Revolution". Before the agriculture education was first started in in Bihar in 1945, established as Bihar Agricultural College at Sabour in the district of Bhagalpur. Its vision and mission is to develop area specific technologies and manpower in the field of animal husbandry, agriculture and forestry for the agriculture development of Bihar. The Birsa Agricultural University offers programmes and activities of research, veterinary sciences, education, extension in agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry. This agriculture university consist of 35 departments, 6 Directorates, College of Biotechnology, 3 zonal research stations, 16 Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Central Library, Computer Centre and service units. It is complete residential university with residential facilities for Teachers/Scientists and supporting staff and hostels for Girls and Boys have been provided in the campus. The students who wish to take admissions in Birsa Agricultural University should go through the CCEE conducted by the ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) VCI (Veterinary Council of India). The Birsa Agricultural University publishes its own magazine called ‘’ ZENITH’’ where all the students contribute their work and research which develop creativity among the students.
