The centre for theoretical physics was established in April, 1990 at Seoul National University that was financially supported by Korean Science and Engineering Foundation, with aim of promoting researches in the field of theoretical physics. Approximately 25 physicists are involved in different programs and working on their researches to give the department of theoretical physics an international platform. The centre for theoretical physics is a multidisciplinary community of faculty, scientists and students of Seoul National University joined by collaborating members of other institutions in Korea. Ultimately aiming to discover new phenomena in physical sciences through high standards of theoretical reasoning. The major research focus areas are:- Quantum Field Theory and Unified Field Theory Statistical Physics Elementary Particles Optics & Quantum Electronics Plasma Physics Condensed Matter Astrophysics The centre is also involved in publishing various research articles to demonstrate its high level of commitment in the field of research focussing on concepts of theoretical physics.
