Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering

The Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering is an engineering institute with studies focusing on the research & development in agriculture. The milestone for the institute was kept on February 15, 1976. CIAE is located in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. The institute is an independent part of Indian Council of Agricultural Research which is supported and taken care by Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. Objectives of Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering: 1. To Research on agricultural mechanization, post-harvest food processing, and energy management in agriculture. 2. Human resource development and capacity building through outreach and training programs; commercialization and utilization of agricultural engineering technologies. The institute provides facilities like workshops, research laboratories, research farms, research workshop and prototype production center, library, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Cell, Agricultural Research Information System (ARIS) Cell, Computer Aided Design (CAD) Cell, Instrumentation Cell, Guest House and Trainees Hostel, International Training Centre, Agricultural Technology Information Center (ATIC), etc. In the forty years of its existence the institute has brought about many changes in the agricultural systems through different interventions of engineering technologies. The efforts have resulted into about 250 technologies including research prototypes, processes, software and protocols besides many publications in the form of research papers, popular articles, technical bulletins, books etc. The activities of the institute are conducted through five research divisions, one Centre of excellence, four All India Coordinated Research Projects and Two Consortia Research Platforms. Besides, one arm of the institute located at Coimbatore also contributes in research and extension activities.
