Cheongju National University of Education is one of a few national colleges of training in South Korea. In 1962, the educational modules was extended from one year to two years long, and the school was renamed Cheongju National Teachers Junior College. It was revamped as a four-year school in 1984, and again as a college of training in 1993. The doctoral level college opened in 1996.
