Named after AA.Galkin (DonIPhE) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Dоnetsk Institute for Physics and Engineering was founded in the year 1965. Alexandr Alexandrovich Galkin, academician of the NAS of Ukraine, professor, doctor of physico-mathematical sciences, an outstanding representative of the world-known physical school in the town of Kharkov headed this institute till 1982. AA Galkin was a brilliant scientist and organizer of physical science in Ukraine. As a founder, he has worked hard and has encouraged people for their works and has been the back bone for the development of new scientific and applied research in this university. In recent years, there is noted flow of young researchers to this institute. The deed started by the academician 40 years ago still goes on.
