Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) is a cancer care hospital and research centre in Guwahati, Assam in a plot of land covering an area of 14.2 acres, India. It is a Regional Cancer Centre recognized by theGovernment of India. Named after Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah, a physician and philanthropist, the institute was founded on 18 November 1973 and was conferred RCC status in 1980. It is a 200-bedded Hospital at present. A DBT Centre for Molecular Biology and Cancer Research was started in February 2010. The Government of Assam has already issued NOC for affiliation of Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute under Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Assam. The latest technique of radiotherapy like CT simulation, 3D-CRT and IMRT was introduced in the year 2007. In the year 2011, 3 rd Unit of Linear Accelerator with IGRT and frameless SRS / SRT for both cranial and extra cranial application will be introduced. The future project includes PET-CT, Tomotherapy and Radiation Medicine Centres.
