ENSTA Bretagne

The École Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées de Bretagne (English: National Institute of Advanced Technologies of Brittany) often referred as ENSTA Bretagne formerly ENSIETA is a French Engineering school and research center located in Brest, France. It was founded in the year 1971 and its current president is Patrick Puyhabilier.
The spirit of adventure, “Aim high, sail far”, is the first thing you notice when you arrive in the maritime city of Brest, the European capital of marine science and technology. It also expresses our will to train engineers who are open to the world around them, focusing on sciences and innovation. “Aim high” is a state of mind, combining the curiosity, adaptability and creativity that drive our students meeting the expectations of high tech industries.
It is a graduate educational institute and a research centre run under the supervision of the French Ministry of Defence. ENSTA Bretagne is partly a military academy for engineers because it trains engineers for the armed forces, although nowadays the majority (80%) of trainees are civilians. It offers courses and projects which are officially recognized as higher educational, like Graduate and Post-Graduate, doctorates. The population of the University is 900 as per 2015 report.
International students account for 20% of the workforce on average. Scientific centre of 180 people, of which 60 are teacher-researchers, HDR, 30 are engineers and technicians, 85 are doctoral students and 15 are post-doctoral candidates. The country rank is 169 and in the world the ranking is 5188. The university offers six majors: Electronics and System for Embedded Systems, Computoring and Automatics for embedded systems, Naval architecture and offshore engineering, Automotive architecture, Pyrotechnics, Hydrography and Oceanography, Engineering and Management Organizations.
The Specialities provided by the University are: Naval Architecture, Vehicle ,Hydrography Oceanography, Renewable marine sciences, Pyrotechnic systemsamd embedded systems. The development of the research activity carried out at ENSTA Bretagne has two main objectives: Advancing the field of knowledge in the schools fields of competence and meeting the needs of industrial players and the Ministry of Defense, To provide engineering students with scientific training at the forefront of current knowledge and to inspire them with curiosity, initiative and creativity.
