East China University of Political Science and Law is the first batch of higher political and legal schools founded by New China. June 1952, approved by the East China Military and Political Committee, St. Johns University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Soochow University, Xiamen University, Shanghai University, Anhui University, Shanghai University, Aurora University and other nine institutions of law, The Department of Politics and Society merged to set up East China University of Political Science and Law at the site of St. Johns University. In 1958, the school incorporated into the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences; in 1963 to build again, the following year enrollment; 1966 to stop enrollment, was revoked in 1972; March 1979, approved by the State Council, the second re-school. In March 2007, approved by the Ministry of Education, the school changed its name to East China University of Political Science and Law. The school is a university in Shanghai.
