Established in 1999, Fachhochschule Ostschweiz (University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the large town of St. Gallen (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), St Gallen. Officially accredited/recognized by the Staatssekretariat für Bildung, Forschung und Innovation, Schweiz (State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, Switzerland), Fachhochschule Ostschweiz (FHO) is a small (enrollment range: 4,000-4,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Fachhochschule Ostschweiz (FHO) offers courses and programs leading to officialy recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment. FHO also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, study abroad and exchange programs, as well as administrative services.
Around 3,300 students are currently enrolled in our Health, Social Work, Technical Science and Business Administration departments, as well as in executive education courses. We oversee seven research and consulting institutes and are actively involved in the national and international knowledge community.

The University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland (German: Fachhochschule Ostschweiz, FHO) is a governing body of the four Universities of Applied Science in Eastern Switzerland. They are located in St. Gallen, Rapperswil, Chur and Buchs.
