Far East University, Korea

Eumseoung has a total population just under 100,000. The city name means "shaded castle." Students will experience all four seasons and a beautiful landscape of valleys and farm land. Because of the small size students will be localized quickly through local festivals and be able to utilize Korean quickly!
Far East University was founded in March 1998 under the educational ideology of Hongikingan (devotion to the welfare of mankind) and has been developing into one of the most prestigious private schools linking the capital region with the central region. Located an hour from Seoul, it consists of approximately 30 schools and departments in business administration, social studies, foreign language, education, engineering, art and sports.
FEU offers a unique opportunity in the form of paid tutorships for students from English speaking countries. The role of a tutor is to actively lead and engage in discussions with students from non-English speaking countries. Responsibilities include four to six hours of tutoring sessions per week. Through this unique and valuable experience, students can develop leadership skills and friendships, as well as earn a stipend of 150,000 Won (about $125) per week, which can be used to cover day-to-day living expenses. Rent is waived for those exchange students who opt to live in the International House. In addition, students who participate in the Global Leadership Development program are also usually able to receive free airfare.
As an additional opportunity, degree-seeking students at FEU are required to undertake international volunteer service experiences through Far East University Volunteer Services Abroad, Korea University Council for Volunteer Services, or other international internship experiences sponsored/approved by the University. These placements, as well as placements within Korea, are also available to exchange students.
During the academic year course-work is available in English in Korean Language and Culture. Limited and ad hoc coursework is also available from within FEUs schools: Business & Management, Liberal Arts & Sciences, Education, Nursing, Hotel & Tourism Management, Social Welfare (Social Work), Arts & Design and Health Sciences.
