The impetus of four Civil Engineers (Enrique Balaguer, Rauil Celestino, Jose Maria Navarro and Pedro Suarez Bores) interested in promoting research within the scope of the Higher Technical School of Civil Engineers of Madrid, and in facilitating collaboration with the companies related to Civil Engineering fruitful in the constitution of the Agustin de Betancourt Foundation in May of 1977. The Foundation, established in the headquarters of the School, was presided over by Raul Celestino, with the Patronage being constituted by the Rector of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Director of the School and a representation of Professors of the School as well as some illustrious Engineers one of them appointed by the College of Engineers of Roads, Channels and Ports, acting as Secretary of the Board of Trustees the Secretary of the School. After D. Raul Celestino have presided over the D. José María Navarro Oliva Foundation, Mr. Juan Miguel Villar Mir and Mr. Eloy Domínguez-Adame Cobos. He is currently President of the Foundation Mr. Arcadio Gutiérrez Zapico and Patron-Manager Director of the School Mr. Juan Antonio Santamera Sánchez. Since its establishment and in accordance with the aims set out in its Statutes, the Foundation has cooperated with the School in carrying out its duties, promoting scientific and technical research and encouraging students to take an interest in research tasks, instructing them in their mechanics essential. To achieve its objectives, the Foundation subsidizes and manages research projects , always directed by a professor career officer of the ETS of Civil Engineers of the Polytechnic University of Madrid who, with the degree of Doctor, has full teaching capacity And researcher. The Foundation collaborates in the training of students and postgraduates with the organization of specialized courses and the granting of scholarships for collaboration in their research projects. After more than thirty years of existence, the balance is highly positive and the Foundation manages more than four million euros per year in research work, courses and grants. Currently the Foundation represents a prestigious technological benchmark that promotes the presence of the School in the world of scientific and technical research, presenting to the authorities the needs that Civil Engineering users find to develop their innovation activities. COURSE OF LEGAL SPECIALIZATION FOR TECHNICIANS AND MANAGERS IN PREVENTION OF LABOR RISKS (February 2017) The Legal Specialization program will provide the student with a global perspective on preventive management from the legal perspective, as well as a multitude of tools with which to implement strategies that support it. With the purpose of approximating the legal aspects, to know first-hand the different jurisprudential doctrines in this matter and to integrate these aspects in the preventive management of the companies, COITI, together with the Austin de Betancourt Foundation of the ETSICCP of the UPM, Organizes a new edition of the course d LEGAL SPECIALIZATION FOR TECHNIQUES AND MANAGERS OF PREVENTION OF LABOR RISKS. To carry out this program has brought together a prominent cadre of professionals in the legal and prevention field (lawyers, Labour Inspectors and Social Security, Prosecutors, etc.) and has designed a program that maintains the character of pragmatism, Innovation and exclusivity that grants its academic programming. LORCENIS project is to develop long reinforced concrete for energy infrastructures with lifetime extended up to a 100% under extreme operating conditions. Four scenarios of severe operating conditions are considered. Concrete infrastructure in deep sea, arctic and subarctic zones: Offshore windmills, gravity based structures, bridge piles and harbours. Concrete structures in concentrated solar power plants exposed to high temperature thermal fatigue. Concrete cooling towers subjected to acid attack. The goal will be realized through the development of multifunctional strategies integrated in concrete formulations and advanced stable bulk concretes from optimized binder technologies. A multi-scale show case will be realized towards service-life prediction of reinforced concretes in extreme environments to link several model approaches and launch innovation for new software tools. The durability of sustainable advanced reinforced concrete structures developed will be proven and validated within LORCENIS under severe operating conditions, starting from a proof of concept to technology validation (TRL 5). LORCENIS is a well-balanced consortium of multidisciplinary experts from 9 universities and research institutes and 7 industries, including two SMEs, from 8 countries. All partners will contribute to training by exchange of personnel and joint actions with other European projects and will increase the competitiveness and sustainability of European industry by bringing innovative materials and new methods closer to the market and permitting the establishment of energy infrastructures in areas with harsh climate and environmental conditions at acceptable costs.
