The Séneca Foundation - Agency of Science and Technology of the Region of Murcia, is an entity belonging to the regional public sector created in 1996 with the purpose of to cooperate in the elaboration and execution of programs of promotion of the investigation in the Region of Murcia and to contribute To the development of the capabilities of its science, technology and innovation system.
In its capacity as managing body of the Plan of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Region of Murcia (PCTIRM) 2011-2014, which promotes the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Enterprise and Innovation, through the General Directorate of Research and Innovation and In accordance with its institutional mission, the Agency contributes to the planning, execution and monitoring of regional research and innovation policies, as well as the definition of new management models, promoting programs to support research talent, the generation and valorisation of scientific knowledge and Technical, research mobility and the dissemination of scientific culture, under criteria of cooperation and internationalization.
Its function is recognized in Law 8/2007, of April 23, on Promotion and coordination of research, technological development and innovation in the Region of Murcia. (Articles 14.2 and 33), and operates in functional dependence of the Ministry of Industry, Enterprise and Innovation. Its main lines of action articulated in Programs associated to PCTIRM 2011-2014 are: - Research Talent Program, Program for the Support of Research and Valuation of its results, Mobility, Cooperation and Internationalization, Program, Scientific and technical infrastructures program, Program for the Promotion of Scientific Culture and the social Science. The Foundation also works in the areas of support for the orientation of public R + D + I policies, through studies and analysis of the Science and Technology Observatory, the promotion of scientific culture and the involvement Through the Unit of Scientific Culture and the production of new resources and services for the users and agents of the Regional System of Science and Technology.
The Foundation is committed to promoting scientific and technical research of excellence in all fields of knowledge and the transfer and application of its results, the promotion of innovative activity, and social appreciation for science and technology as a means of Achieve a socially and economically relevant research, attentive to the needs of their environment.
