The Foundation of the Spanish Railways was constituted the 20 of February of 1985. In his Patronato are represented the main companies of the Spanish public railway sector. It is entrusted with the recovery, custody, generation and dissemination of the historical, cultural, scientific and technological heritage of the railway, with a desire for sectorial collaboration. The railway museums of Madrid-Delicias, and of Catalonia, in Vilanova and Geltrú, the Railway Historical Archive, the Railway Documentation Center, the Railway Library and the Railway Training Hall are reference centers for researchers and institutional users.The Foundation: Mission and Objectives The mission of the Foundation of the Spanish Railways is the promotion of knowledge and the use of the railway through all kinds of actions: cultural, research and training, technological services, recovery and alternative use of railway heritage, periodicals and specialized books. It also maintains the Library, the Railway Historical Archive and the Railway Documentation Center, as well as the Railway Museums of Madrid and Catalonia. The Board of Trustees performs the functions of representation, government and administration. The Governing Commission is the body delegated by the Board of Directors that assumes the ordinary management.
