The Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute was created on 24 December 1946 by Gottlieb Duttweiler, the founder of Migros, and his wife Adele. Gottlieb Duttweiler laid the foundation stone for the "construction of an international educational and research institute" in 1962 before his death The Duttweilers' aim is to create an institute with major scientific research areas on topics of business and society and of organizing events and activities necessary to promote it. Board Members composed of eight members; its chairperson is Fabrice Zumbrunnen, member of the Executive Board of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives.The Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute is self funded and get finance itself through the sale of its publications, fees for conferences, speakers' fees and renting out its premises.
