Gyeongju University

The university was established on 21 January 1981 as Wonsok Education Foundation. In year 1993, the university changed the name into Gyeongju University. The mission of university is stated as the philosophical underpinnings of the foundation of the University, epitomized in its precept "Truth, Righteousness, Faith, and Service", are centered on promoting intelligent and creative spirits. It is the University’s goal to produce truthful and competent specialists well-versed in the field of tourism and related areas, who will contribute to the prosperity of this country and of the world. The central educational objectives of the University are to provide quality education programs for future leaders in various fields of the modern industrial society, to equip them with a solid theoretical foundation as well as a thorough understanding of application methodology, and to contribute to the advancement of tourism studies and related disciplines, with the larger context of the educational goals of the Republic of Korea.
The University takes it as foremost responsibility to establish an open system geared toward the globalization of Shilla"s culture and to contribute to the development of the local community by producing competent specialists in various field and expediting academic progress in the established and newly emerging areas of the 21st century. The university has 4 colleges which offer various courses divided into Semesters; College of Tourism, College of Cultural & Art, College of Public Health & Welfare, College of Industry & Technology. Gyeongju University promotes a spirit of creative challenge and confluent education among different majors in order to foster intellectuals who will meet the needs of a growing multicultural society.

For this, GU does not put emphasis on education of mere knowledge, but on that of intellectuals with humanistic essence and global sensitivity.
