Hakkari University was founded with the Article 99 of the Law on the Establishment of Higher Education Institutions and Law No. 5765 on the May 22, 2008 and the Law on the Cadre of Higher Education Institutions and the Law on the Amendment of the Laws on the General Staff and Procedures of the Higher Education Institutions and has become a legal entity of Hakkari University.
The mission of Hakkari University is to ensure that all the natural and cultural riches that can be transformed into resources in the existing conditions and the understanding of human beings, that the researches carried out within the frame of science and originality expressed by the intellectual freedoms of acceptance of differences are beyond quantitative value, That science is free from the trappings of memorization and that it gains and gains the scientific mind by free researches and creative activities. The vision of Hakkari University is to be a peaceful, inventive, researching university that advocates that ideas are free, that differences are accepted and tolerated, and that individuals and communities realize themselves. The university management is under control of the Rector, the position is held by Prof. Dr. Ömer Pakis. The General Secretariat consists of General Secretary, Assistant Secretary General and General Secretary Staff.
The Secretary General Dr. Erdal BÄ°NGÖL is the head of the Universitys administrative organization and is responsible to the Rectorate for the functioning of this organization. The senator and the board of directors are the rapporteur without voting rights. The roles and responsibilities of General secretary is to ensure that the units in the University Administrative Organization work efficiently, regularly and in a harmonious manner, to ensure that the decisions taken by the University Senate and the University Administrative Board are written, protected and kept, to communicate the resolutions of the University Senate and the University Administrative Board to the departments and relevant departments of the University and Rectors conduct correspondence. The position of Deputy Secretary General is held by Feridun ALP. Further, the organizational structure consists of General Secretary Staff, Board of Directors and University Senate. The university offers courses in Education, Fine Arts, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Theology, Engineering, Foreign Languages, Social Sciences and Natural and Applied Sciences. In addition to this, Revolving Fund Management Directorate was established in 2011. Institute of Science and Continuous Education Center was established.
