Hefei University is one of the reputed universities in China, is under the Ministry of Education. It is situated in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province, which is also known as a green city and as an important base of science and education in China with particular strength in Engineering and Management Science. Hefei University has been considered as among main national initiatives seeking for the growth of the international competitiveness of the top-tier universities in China such as Project 211 and Project 985 Innovation Platform. Hefei University has four campuses, namely, Tunxilu, Lu’anlu, Feicuihu and Xuancheng. Presently Hefei University has 17 schools and departments, 46 research institutes and several key disciplinary areas focusing on engineering science. The schools provides 82 undergraduate programs, 32 first-level departments with permission to confer masters degrees, 12 first-level disciples for doctoral programs as well as 12 post-doctoral programs. 4 disciplines are selected as national major departments, 28 regional key departments. The university has 1 state key lab, 1 national engineering lab, 4 national university-industry joint engineering research centers and 46 research centers at the ministerial or regional level as well as 1 national A-level architectural design and research institute. The campus in Xuancheng has 5 disciplines for post-doctoral studies. The University has granted to provide doctor degrees in 32 disciplines, masters in 93 disciplines and bachelors in 63 disciplines. Hefei University highly reputed in China. Currently, Hefei University enrolls 29,480 undergraduate students and 11,800 graduate students. Hefei University has given extraordinary achievements in student education. Hefei University teaching staff, key disciplines, courses, textbooks, teaching and experiment centers has won many awards at all levels. Hefei University is among the first batch of 61 pilot colleges and universities to conduct the Education and Development Plan for Outstanding Engineers initiated by the Ministry of Education. Hefei University now has 9 sister universities in Germany mainly with the applied science universities in line with Hefei University’s mission. 7 sister universities are also there in South Korea with exchange programs for students and faculty and dual degree programs in language, Tourism Management, Computer Science and Chinese Teaching. In addition to Germany and Korea, HU also has cooperation relations with universities in the United States, Austria, Thailand, Britain and Spain as well. International seminars on education, rural development, tourism management and environmental protection were also hosted with participants from Germany, Korea, Japan, Singapore and other countries. Hefei University of Technology has 200 projects funded by the National University Student Innovation Program. In the year 2013, the university has an annual research funding in sciences of over RMB 447 Million. The university has applications for invention patents are 357 in which 204 are licensed; besides, 82 computer software patents are granted. In current years, Hefei University of Technology has won 5 awards related to national science-and-technology, and 19 awards at the ministerial or regional level. The University is supported by the government under the State 211 Project from year 2005.
