Heilongjiang University is located in Harbin, a famous city with beautiful landscape in northeast China. The university was established in March 1941, in the base of Chinas communist revolution. Harbin is also known as the "Moscow of the East". It is the most places to learn Mandarin Chinese. Heilongjiang University has several sobriquets; it was called as Yanan School of Foreign Languages (Chinese Military and Politics University of the Anti-Japanese invasion) in the 1940s. After the PLA liberation, the Foreign Language School moved to Harbin as an educational institution conducted by the HQ of Northeastern Democratic Army (also a group of the PLA). In 1958, the school was extended and rebuilt as the University of Heilongjiang.
The University of Heilongjiang is a Provincial conducted 211 universities and a Provincial key university. It is famous in languages, commercial law, Marxism philosophy, and business study and water conservancy. It offers the only Manchu language program in China. As per academics provided by the university, it composed of Liberal Arts Colleges, Science Colleges, Language Colleges, Teaching Departments and Research Institutions. The Pupils strength is more than 35000 under graduates and 5000 post graduates with teaching faculty 3200.
