Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science as Hindustan College of Engineering has laid stone in the year 1985 and recognized as the "University Status" by University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India from the year 2008-09 on the name abbreviated as HITS (Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science). Academics has excelled in its performance by securing 80% of students in securing first class with distinctions for years, HITS is one of the best reputed engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu, and importantly well known for its experienced and highly qualified faculty, in providing the facilities required for the extracurricular activities. The distinguished features of the University is to provide the conductive and suitable environment to achieve everyone’s goals of their careers, to be trained in the personality development, the vision of the university is to “make every man a success and no man a failure”. Moreover the university has NAAC accredited with a top grade “A”, and said to be the one of the top most autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India. Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science is providing the scholarships in the various ways such as SC / ST Scholarship through Government of India, Dr. K.C.G. Verghese Memorial Foundation Scholarships/Aid, Merit Scholarship for the top performers and sports scholarship. Coming to the statistics of the placements in the University; in the year 2013-14, it was 71.83% of placements with 77 various companies. In 2014-15, it was about 72.53% of placements with around 78 companies listed, in 2015-16 with 75.42% of campus placements with a listed 51 companies and the list of companies who recruited globally are Infosys, Oracle, Air India, ICICI, IDBI, Zuari Cements, Sitel Dallas Technologies etc. Scientific committee is going very strong in the university with 200publications per year in peer reviewed journals published. Many international NRI students are into the university as such international aspirants, students, interns, and many more abroad students has taken place in the study tour or summer programs with native students gain international exposure.
