Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Clinical Study Centre was established in September 2014. This is the only center which focuses and promotes Chinese Medicine clinical trial in Hong Kong. It was initiated by Prof. Aiping Lu and Prof. Zhaoxiang Bian. Chinese Medicine has become a new trend all over the world to solve the health problems. The main objective of this center is to create a dynamic institute that enables its academic faculty to develop, demonstrate, and implement innovative models of clinical research in integrative and Chinese medicine in Hong Kong, mainland China and all over the world inorder to earn its role and reputation of Hong Kong University. The main aim is to provide multidisciplinary health professions a synergistic collaboration platform to perform high-quality Chinese Medicine Clinical trials across a wide range of therapeutic areas. The goals of this centre are to establish an outstanding unit to conduct clinical trials in Chinese Medicine to integrate pharmacological, biological & clinical research and to offer education and services in clinical trial design, oversight and analysis of clinical trial results with the aim of improving the health outcomes of patients. Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Clinical Study Centre utilizes many tools for its research which include GAMESS, Moe, Derek, Meteor, Drug Bank, Protein databank etc.
Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Clinical Study Centre is associated with many other research institutes to promote the advances and exchange of knowledge. It is associated with many famous research institutes all through the Globe. Some of the research institutes it collaborated includes: The National Institute of Complementary Medicine, Australia, National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, U.S.A, The National Research Center in Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Norway, China Academy of Chinese medical Sciences, Centre for Integrative Medicine, University of Toronto, Canada. The Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Clinical Study Centre can serve as a platform to clinical investigators, clinical research personnel, institutional management, clinical study sponsors, research collaborators, clinical study participants and all the other clinical study stakeholders.
Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Clinical Study Centre accommodates highly specialized personalities as its members to promote the researches across the world. Prof. BIAN Zhaoxiang is the director of this research center since it was established. The main researches of Prof. Bian includes the basic mechanisms of stress related diseases including gastrointestinal disorder, depression, osteoporosis and cancer, Pharmacological effects of Chinese medicine and Clinical trial design and implementation with Chinese medicine. Prof. Zhang Ge is another eminent expert serving in this center. He is associate professor at Institute for Advancing Translational Medicine in Bone & Joint Diseases. His researches include Bone bio-imaging, Bone histomorphometry, Bone biology, Bone biomechanics, Molecular understandings and RNAi-based & phytotherapy-based translational research in osteoporosis, osteonecrosis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and facture repair, etc.
