Hospital Garcia de Orta is founded in 1989 located at Almada , Portugal. The Hospital was decided by ministerial order that the Hospital de Almada were to become known as Hospital Garcia de Orta, in honor of the remarkable physician, botanist and naturalist century. Hospital Garcia de Orta provides hospital care to the population of the municipalities of Almada, Setúbal and Sesimbra. The HGO still aim to develop research and training, pre and post graduate, professional health activities as well as educational activities filed in collaboration with public and private entities. The Hospital Garcia de Ortas mission is the provision of hospital care to the population of the municipalities of Almada, Setúbal and Sesimbra. This Hospital is further directed to conduct research and training, pre and post graduate, health professionals, and teaching activities in collaboration filed with public and private entities. For all these reasons, the HGO has assumed, and is today a reality, the role of central level hospital for the Setúbal peninsula and much of the south of the country.
