Institut Destree

Institut Destree was founded in 1938. Also referred to as Institut Jules-Destrée. Statutes adopted 2 Oct 2004; amended 23 Apr 2009. Registered in accordance with Belgian law. Its aim is to Conduct studies and carry out activities in the field of regional development. A European research centre for regional development, The Destree Institute, founded in 1938, is a pluralist, nongovernmental public body. The Institute threw itself into the foresight field in the early 1980s by launching a cycle of exercises called Wallonia to the future, concentrating at first on issues related to civil society Wallonia to the future Between 1985 and 2004, The Destree Institute engaged in six foresight exercises of which it was both the partner and the operator. Anticipation for enterprises in Wallonia This exercise was led in 2002 and 2003 at the request of the Minister for Economic Affairs of the Wallonia Government, within a global energetic called 4X4 for Entrepreneurship. The purpose was to help the Cabinet of the Minister and the Division for Economic Affairs and Employment of the Walloon Region to redefine its regional support policies for companies, by captivating into account the risks and challenges on the horizon of 2020. The task went ahead mainly in combination with company directors, the Walloon Union of Enterprises and experts from business circles; it shaped a report which was presented to the Ministers Serge Kubla and Jean-Claude Marcourt, and dispersed to the forty people who had taken part in the exercise. Wallonia territorial Cleverness Platform By the request of the minister in charge of Town and Country Planning in the Wallonia Government André Antoine and the Services for Town and Country Planning, Housing and Patrimony of the Ministry of the Wallonia Region, The Destree Institute shaped an information platform devoted to foresight projects in Wallonia with the idea of initiation the project for Regional Environmental Planning, in order to provide informations on regional prudence ingenuities directed in the field of communal and supracommunal collaboration.
