The Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) was founded in the year 2003. The Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information is a subsidiary institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The Institute is dedicated to fundamental research in quantum information and quantum optics in both the ways theoretically and experimentally. The institute of research has employees around 100 members and consists a section in Innsbruck with 4 working groups. These working groups are led by Gerhard Kirchmair and Oriol Romero-Isart and also another section is present in Vienna with 4 groups, which were led by Caslav Brukner, Miguel Navascues, Rupert Ursin and Anton Zeilinger. The Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information is an independent research center with strong links to the University of Innsnruck and the University of Vienna. The members of the institute can be integrated in teaching at the universities and there by a close exchange of students and postdocs is established. The headquarters of the institute is present in Vienna, Innsbruck, Austria. Research groups in the institute are Quantum foundations and quantum information theory, Foundational and theoretical aspects of quantum information, Quantum information processing and Communication, Quantum information and foundations of physics. Research groups in Innsbruck are like Quantum optics and spectroscopy, Dipolar quantum gases, Ultra cold atoms and quantum gases, Super conducting quantum circuits, Quantum nanophysics, optics and information, Quantum optics and quantum information. Some of the staff members are like Baranov,Mikhail-Sr. Scientist, Blatt,Rainer- Managing and Research Director, Falschlunger,Nikolaus- Administrative Assistant, Grimm,Rudolf-Research Director, Kirchmair,Gerhard-Junior Research Director, Mark,Manfred-Sr.Scientist. Some of the articles published are Lifetime of Feshbach dimers in a Fermi-Fermi mixture of 6Li and 40k, A Transmon Quantum Annealer: Decomposing Many-Body Ising constraints in to pair Interactions, Quantum-Fluctuation-Driven Crossover from a Dilute Bose-Einstein condensate to a N=Macrodroplet in a Dipolar Quantum Fluid, In situ observation of optomechanical Bloch oscillations in an optical cavity, Attraction-induced dynamically stability of a Bose-Einstein condensate in a nonlinear lattice, Strong correlation effects on topological quantum phase transitions in 3 dimensions, Quasistatic Metamaterials: Magnetic coupling Enhancement by Effective space cancellation. The Infrastructure and personnel of the Institute is closely connected with the University of Innsbruck and it also contributes strongly to the education of master and medical students. The advancement of young academics together with the University of Innsbruck is the main concern of the institute. Some of the Austrian University partners are Quantum nanophysics and Molecular quantum optics, Quantum Foundations and Quantum Information on the Nano and Microscale, Quantum Foundations and Quantum Information Theory, Ultracold Atoms and Quantum Gases, Quantum optics, Quantum Nanophysics, Quantum Information, Quantum Information Science and Quantum Computation. One of the founding Directors of the IQOQI was Hans Briegel and he also served as a Research Director from 2003-2014. The research group later on moved to the University of Innsbruck in 2014.
