Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics

In 1958 The Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics (IAPCM) was established in People’s Republic of China. The institution mainly focuses on applied theoretical research and on the study of fundamental theories and it conducts research on nuclear warhead design computations for Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics(CAEP) and the institute. It Consists of 400 specialized technical staff and over 100 researchers. The research fields of The Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics(IAPCM) includes: Theoretical Physics, Nuclear Fusion and Plasma Physics, Nuclear Physics, Atomic Molecular Physics, Laser Physics, Fluid Dynamics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Application, Arms Control Science and Technology. The director of the institute from August 2012 was LI Hua. The directions of the research of the Institute includes basic theoretical studies of scientific and engineering computing, numerical methods and algorithms as well which are important to solve difficult problems in various fields by some applications. It is a center for all multidisciplinary researches related to emphasizing the study of computational mathematics and its applications, scientific computing and finally numerical simulation. In 1999 International Workshop on Computational Physics: Fluid Flow and Transport in Porous Media was co-sponsored by Beijing Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics was held as the Institute has established academic exchanges and cooperation with many institutes and universities in the world. The Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics has over 400 scientists and technicians including 11 Academicians of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering. It is a multi-disciplinary institution which focuses on applied theoretical research. The Division of Applied Physics(3 sections) , the Division of Computational Physics (3 sections), the Division of Applied Scientefic Computing , these are the 2 sections working on high technology in this Institute. The Institute has a General Corporation which is responsible for technical development, application, service and support Center for scientific activities Some of the affiliated colleges for Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics(IAPCM) in the Division of Mathematics and Physics are Nankai University, Institute of Mechanics, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Institute of Theoretical Physics, Institute of High Energy Physics, The General Armaments Department of People’s Liberation, Nanjing Institute Of Astronomical Optics And Technology. There are over 100 researchers in IAPCM and some of the publications published by The Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics are Structures of the Zika Virus Envelope Protein and its Complex with a Flavivirus Broadly Protective Antibody, Antiferromagnetic FeSe Monolayer on SiTiO3: The Charge Doping and Electric Field Effects, Scattering theory below energy for the cubic fourth-order Schrodinger equation: Scattering for Cubic fourth-order Schrodinger equation, An Ultra Sensetive resistive pressure sensor based on hollow-sphere microstructure inuced elasticity in conducting polymer film, Molecular bsis of binding between novel human coronavirus MERS-CoV and its receptor CD26, Energy-Efficient Artificial Synapses Bsed on Flexible IGZO Electric-Double-Layer Transistors are some of the publications issued from IAPCM. During the past years the institute has made great achievements and significant contributions to the social development and also in the development of science and technology.
