Euro-mediterranean Water Institute (IEA) has its origins in the Recommendation 1471/200 of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, of 25th September 2000, adopted in the 748th meeting of Ministers Deputies (3rd April, 2001). It was constituted as a Foundation on 23rd July, 2001 and has since developed a program for non-profit activities on public water problems and water resources addressing technical, legal and institutional. IEA Foundation is aimed at promoting and support the development of R & D in the use and management of water resources, with special emphasis on problems related to water scarcity. Its partners are:  Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV)  Università degli Studi del Salento  Centro Italiano Ricerche Aerospaziali (CIRA)  Consorzio Venezia Ricerche (CVR)  Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM)  Università degli Studi del Sannio The Foundation has developed in recent years many research projects with various institutions and universities as well as various aid through scholarships to study water issues. Projects undertaken in 2008 are as follows:  MULTI-TEMPORAL ANALYSIS OF LAND USE CHANGES IN THE SEGURA BASIN. 1975-2007 PERIOD in 2008 for the duration of 6 months. The basic objective of this project is to analyze the spatiotemporal evolution of land use in the Segura basin in the time interval from 1975 to the present and to develop explanatory models of such evolution.  USE OF LIDAR SENSOR FOR THE GENERATION OF LAYERS OF SPATIAL INFORMATION WITH HYDROLOGICAL APPLICATION One of the basic layers of information when working with a GIS, especially for hydrological modeling, is the Digital Elevation Model. Traditional methods for their creation are contours digitizing and interpolation, direct field surveying methods or photogrammetry.  TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF THE WATER PLANNING IN SPAIN. HYDROGEOLOGICAL STUDY OF AQUIFERS IN THE SOURCE UPPER TAJO BASIN  LEGAL ISSUES IN THE HYDROLOGICAL PLAN IN SPAIN. SPECIAL CONSIDERATION OF THE MEDITERRANEAN BASIN  WATER BANKS IN SPAIN.
