The Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBIS), was created on March 24, 2006 under an agreement signed by the Ministry of Health of the Andalusian Government, the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Business of the Andalusian Government. Andalusian Health Service, the University of Seville, and the Higher Council for Scientific Research.
The IBIS represents the continuity of a project initiated with the creation in 2000 of the Biomedical Research Laboratory (LIB), by agreement between the Ministry of Health of the Junta de Andalucía, the Andalusian Health Service, and the University of Seville.
The Master’s degree in "Biomedical Research" is offered to promote the training of researchers and as a stage prior to the carrying out of a Doctoral Thesis. The Master’s degree is directed as much towards specialist doctors who will combine their clinical activity with research, as to non-medical graduates who it is hoped will be attracted to quality biomedical research at the cellular and molecular level within the hospital environment.
The institutions participating in the Master’s program are: the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital, the Spanish Research Council, and the University of Seville, in conjunction with the following departments: Medical Physiology and Biophysics, Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Surgery, Cytology and Histology, Pharmacology, Pediatrics and Radiology, Medicine, Preventive medicine and Public Health, Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and the Immune System, Neurosciences, Oncohematology and Genetics, Cardiovascular and Respiratory Pathology/Other Systemic Diseases
