IS Global is a young organization and has just started to participate in the social media. ISGlobals mission is to improve global health and promote health equity through excellence in research and the translation and application of knowledge. The Barcelona Institute for Global Health, ISGlobal, is the fruit of an innovative alliance between academic, government, and philanthropic institutions to contribute to the efforts undertaken by the international community to address the challenges in global health. ISGlobal is a consolidated hub of excellence in research that has grown out of work first started in the world of health care by the Hospital Clínic and the Parc de Salut MAR and in the academic sphere by the University of Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra University. The pivotal mechanism of its work model is the transfer of knowledge generated by scientific research to practice, a task undertaken by the institute’s Education and Policy and Global Development departments. Its ultimate goal is to help close the gaps in health disparities between and within different regions of the world. On June 30, 2016, the merger between the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL) and the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) was completed. This was the culmination of an alliance process that started in 2013 with the aim of consolidating a stronger and more competitive centre of global health research at the international level. As part of this strategic alliance, ISGlobal integrated in 2015 its research centre at the time: the Centre for Research in International Health (CRESIB). The current research programs of the integrated ISGlobal are: • Malaria • HIV/AIDS • Maternal, child and reproductive health • Chagas disease and other neglected tropical diseases • Viral and bacterial infections It ranks on 982 in terms of size amongst the universities in Spain. It is 864 in world and 39 in Spain. Till now around 1406 scholars have been graduated from the university. The total no. of employees is 252 of which 70% are women and 30% are men. Its total budget is €23,014,339. There are 123 on-going projects and 45 new projects with the university itself The top researcher from the university include Mr Javier Solana Madariaga who is now the vice chair of President of ESADE and member of the Board of Trustees of the ”la Caixa” Foundation. The current research of the university is as follows: Parasite biology, Malaria immunology, Diagnostics, Evaluation of preventive and therapeutic tools, Epidemiology and clinical presentation of Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax, Vector biology and control, Novel approaches and strategies for malaria elimination.
